ATTENTION STUDENT ATHLETES AND PARENTS

Tomorrow night at 6:30 in the auditorium is a mandatory meeting for student athletes and parents to go over the upcoming indoor track season which begins this upcoming Thursday November 15, at 2:30 PM.
Everyone must bring a signed parent permission form who participated in a fall sport. Everyone else must bring this form and either submit the following documentation online or bring it to the meeting. This includes the following:
1. Proof of residency
2. Physician Statement
3. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Form
All of these are required to tryout for the team.

Our schedule for the season has also been posted on the website. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Cross Country Announcements: Sports Sign Ups and Try Out Dates

The Fall Schedule has been posted under the schedule section of the website. As a reminder, the fall sports sign ups will take place a week from today; Monday, August, 6, from 4:00 – 5:30 PM in the cafeteria. Please bring the following documents:

  • Pre-Participation Physical Examination (dated on/after April 1, 2018);
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Acknowledgement Form (Parent/Guardian AND Student Athlete Must Sign);
  • Parent Permission Form;
  • Photo copy of their Birth Certificate (only if this is their first time participating in a sport at MTH);
  • Bring a copy of their 4th Quarter Report Card. Students MUST meet the HCPSS Academic Eligibility Requirements of no more than ONE “E” grade, AND a Minimum GPA of 2.0 or better on their 4th Quarter report Card in order to be Academically Eligible to participate in try-outs.                                        ***INCOMING 9th GRADE STUDENTS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE HCPSS ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the FALL SEASON, ONLY);
  • Residency Verification (in the form of a BGE Bill, Water Bill or Land Line phone bill – required each of the three athletic seasons);
  • Concussion Testing is Optional. MTH will offer concussion testing on Monday, August 6th from 3:30-6:00PM in the Media Center. A parent permission slip is required an may be obtained at hcpss.org

These documents must be handed into Coach Ulrich or Matsakis on or before the 2 Mile Time Trial on Friday, August 10th.

Cross Country tryouts will comprise 3 days:

Friday, August 10, 7:00 AM: 2 Mile Time Trial

Sat, August 11, 7:00 AM: 5K Time Trial

Monday, August 12, 7:00 AM: 5K Time Trial

We will take the top 30 individuals per gender

Boys and Girls Get 3rd in the HOCO Championship!

Congratulations to the Girls and Boys T&F Teams for earning 101 and 76.5 respectively. The following individuals were crowned county champions in their respective events:

Satori Valentine (400 in a PR of 57.51 and the 800) and 4×400 Meter Relay Team (A NEW county meet record)

Leopold Mesamours in the 300 hurdles

The following individuals teams set a new PR:

Cassandra Gallman for a new PR in the Long Jump and Aly Coakley fora new PR in the Triple Jump.

Kinglsey Simmons in the 400 (53.5), Joel Evans in the 800 (1:58.6 and fastest time in 3 years for Hebron athlete), Jacob Ververs in the 1600 (4:31.7 fastest time in 3 years), Erik Vaughan in the 1600 (4:31.8), Will Jones in the 3200 (10:18.5), Nicholas Kent in the 300 hurdles (42.5), Lucian Rectanus and Elias Kim in the discus, Colton Wartman in the Triple Jump, and the 4×800 Team of Glen Turner, Michael Schlining, Joel Evans, and Evan Kocsis (8:05 and fastest time in 3 years)

Great Start to the Season!!

Congratulations to Girls Team for winning the Anne Arundel / Howard County Challenge with 84 points and the Boys Team for finishing 2nd with 95 points to Arundel.

On the Girls side, a special shout out to Jaiden Ritter for finishing 2nd in the 300m, Ebere Ugorji for finishing 2nd in the 500m, Emily Beyer for finishing 2nd in the 3200m, and the 4×400 meter relay team for finishing 1st.

On the Boys side, a special shout out to Glen Turner for winning the 500m in a new PR of 69.9, Michael Schlining for winning the 800m with a new indoor PR, Colton Wartman for finishing 2nd in the 55 hurdles in a new PR and for winning both the long jump AND the triple jump, and both the 4×400 meter relay team and the 4×800 meter relay team for finishing 1st.

We also had numerous individual PRs!! Great Job Everyone!!

Several Important Announcements

The end of season Cross Country banquet will take place on Tuesday, November 14, at 6 PM in the school cafeteria. We will announce further details as the date approaches.

Indoor Track signups will take place next Thursday, November 9, 4 – 530 in the school cafeteria.

The first day of practice for indoor track will be Wednesday, November 15, at 245.

The schedule for the indoor track season has also been announced and is posted on the website.
